We are Childs Plays Alpaca, a medium sized family run alpaca farm in Massachusetts.  These Alpaca Dryer Balls are made from approximately 3.5 oz of 100% Alpaca fiber from animals that were raised and shorn here on our farm.  These are not commercial wholesale dryeballs that we are re-selling. Each ball is about the size of a standard baseball but there is some variation in size due to the handmade nature of the balls.
Dryer sheets are full of toxic chemicals that are bad for your lungs, bad for your clothes and bad for your dryer.  These magic balls are a natural alternative to fabric softener sheets.  You put them in the dryer and they bounce around within your laundry, absorbing some of the moisture to increase humidity which decreases static.  As they bounce against your clothes, they naturally soften them and keep them spread out.  The increase surfaced area allows more heat to reach the clothes, decreasing your dry time. This will help extend the life of your dryer while reducing your electric bill at the same time.
Colors will vary, but the fibers to not come off on your clothing.  Most of our customer report that our dryer balls last 1 year or more before needing to be replaced.
